2019 went by so fast. Still, some great things happened last year. I started GiantsWithin.com, and I traveled to Portugal and Spain.
In 2020, I’ll keep building GiantsWithin.com, I’ll write a book, and I’ll keep traveling.
What are 2 or 3 things that you did last year? And what are 2 or 3 things that you’ll do in 2020?
Whatever you’re up to in life, you’ve got this. Remember that, and enjoy these lyrics.
“You’ve Got This” lyrics / poem by James Barnett
I act like I already have a death sentence
One that hangs heavy on my head
I stare into the abyss
And the abyss stares back at me
Whatever that means
I’ve never really known
So I stumble forward incomprehensibly
Putting one foot ahead of the other
As I’ve been shown
Plodding through a day at a time
Looking for some moments to call mine
Wondering if the dark clouds will ever lift
For the light to shine through
It would be quite the gift
My heart torn asunder
Perhaps I’m too dramatic
I’m craving the release that’s cathartic
For too long I’ve been frozen like the Arctic
Heat me up from the top
Down to my toes
I long to be warm and friendly
What would that even look like
This unfamiliar territory
Into it I must go
I’m following a well-worn path
But to me it’s brand new
So many have gone here before
Their wisdom I explore
In and out, each breath I take
Rocks me to my core
Experimental sideways tours
Delays and roundabout detours
Are all part of this life
I’ve lost count of how many times
I’ve asked and wondered why
Why am I here
Why is there pain
Why don’t I remember what I’m here to learn
Here to learn
The mystery to unfurl
If I remembered
That’d be too easy
Of course, I see that now
Everything is here to help me
Life happens for me, not to me
With that awareness, the suffering ends
I don’t have to pretend otherwise
There are no victims, and it’s no one’s fault
There’s nothing to forgive
Yes, I’m free to live
Be alive and enjoy
Eat, drink, and be merry
Smile, laugh, respect, and love
That’s what beautiful memories are made of
Here’s my toast to humanity
I wish you more happiness than you can handle
Take it, it’s yours
Claim your birthright of happiness
So I say, Cheers, You’re greater than your fears
Do what you’re most afraid of
It’s likely what you require anyway
Go on creating a brand new brighter day
You’ve got this, You’ve got this
You’ve got this, Yes, You’ve got this

First of all, I really like the flow of your lyrics. I used to write lyrics for songs when I was in a band, and I really enjoyed it. I always loved to write cryptic and ambiguous lyrics. These days, I write so much other stuff and don’t have an active band project, so I haven’t written lyrics in years. Time goes by fast, huh?
Three things I did in 2019:
1. I created a niche website that produces $100/month consistently without me touching it. It’s not much, but it’s almost passive at this point. Of course, it took a lot of work to set up.
2. I became spiritual. Not in biblical or any other formal religious sense. But I realized there is so much more than meets the eye in the world.
3. I traveled to the Netherlands.
Three things I aim to accomplish in 2020:
1. I’ll turn my online business into a full time income. This is the year, I have decided so.
2. I’ll travel in Europe. I’ve planned a 4 month trip around Europe by car (I live in Finland) at the end of 2020.
3. I’m going to achieve a body weight power snatch and focus in training for Olympic weightlifting this year. I’ve been doing strength training for years but only recently fell in love with the technicality and raw explosive power of Olympic lifting.
BTW I checked out your “About Me” page. I love your niche. The past year has been eye-opening to me in so many ways. I have made realizations about how the world works. Everything is connected, and we can observe only a very limited fraction of everything that’s going on. I think we might have some ideas to discuss!
Hi Jukka, thank you for your excellent comment! You’re right. It is fun writing lyrics.
Yes, time does go by fast. Congratulations on your niche website doing well.
I’m spiritual, too. I’m glad that science is catching up with spirituality.
I haven’t been to the Netherlands yet. That is one of the places that is on my list to go to.
Those are all great goals for 2020. They are all very achievable.
Yes, “everything is connected, and we can observe only a very limited fraction of everything that’s going on.” Well said! We do have some ideas to discuss.
I really love your lyrics – something nice to start my 2020 with and help set intentions. Your first paragraph really speaks to me, since we’ve been dealing with financial woes, and sometimes it does feel heavy over my head.
But we are surviving, and that is the #1 thing I’m proud of in 2019! We’re doing just fine and have our family and health.
Secondly, I’ve weathered a difficult year and have improved my health by adding in exercise 3-4 times a week and some spiritual guidance through books and meditation.
I’m looking forward to a positive 2020!
Hi Amy, thank you for sharing about what you’ve been going through. You’re right. The main thing is that you have your family and your health. And you keep on going. It’s great hearing about your progress. It’s encouraging.
Awesome article to begin the new year. I found your post very motivational, and I am in a much better mood now than when I came onto your website.
I will return from time to time, and I shared your post with my friends, and I know you are going to make such a difference in so many people’s lives.
Jeff
