Allow Your Greatness to Shine Through

Life is a dream that I’m awake for. Life is a pleasant dream come true. Yes, I choose to see life that way. I choose to see the good in everything, including the things that look to be horrific.

For me, adopting that mindset makes the most sense. I’ve heard others, including David Bayer and Mike Dooley, say that positive statements about yourself are truthful statements. When I see myself and others in a positive manner, I am seeing the truth in the situation.

It’s a fascinating subject to explore how painful circumstances are developed into something that becomes more obviously positive. I’ve written about some painful circumstances from my life on this website. I know I’m not the only one who has experienced pain. It’s not something unique to me.

You’ve experienced pain, too. Of course you have. Whenever you do something positive with those experiences, you allow your greatness to shine through. Life is about more than pain. So much more. Pleasure, love, learning, growth. I’m sure you could list off many other positives as well.

How have you allowed your greatness to shine through?

Be encouraged, great one. It’s your time to shine.

“Shine Through” lyrics / poem by James Barnett

If I could land upon something
If I could get to where you’re at
All this time floating in the air
Missing being on solid ground
I try to resist
And still it persists
What I don’t want is what remains

I keep telling myself
That life can only be difficult
I keep repeating myself
I keep telling myself the same old story
One that doesn’t serve me
One that isn’t useful any more
As if it ever was
Time to give it up
Come up with something new

Is it fear that holds me back
From jumping off the cliff
And sprouting my wings
As I plummet to the ground
Fall or fly for what it’s worth
Release the hero that’s within me

Is it fear that holds me back
From really letting loose
And discovering who I am
Letting others know the real me
Even as I know myself to be
Even as I’ve known myself

Let the inside and the outside match
Make an adventure from my life
Rather than the same old routine
Predictability holds its own traps
Ones that it’s great to be free from
My actions define me
Rather than what I hold inside
Do I have to be so quiet
No, I don’t have to be so quiet

I get to be louder
I get to be stronger
I get to be the man I’m here to be
I get to sprout my wings and see
That I can fly for what it’s worth
I can fly for what it’s worth

I’m not sure where to go from here
Mediocrity has been so familiar
A comfy death
An aching yet familiar pain
So the pain of staying the same
Must be greater than the pain of transforming

Ready to burst forth
Ready to erupt
Into the greatness that I’m here to be
I’ve had glimpses of that at times
And others have given me specifics, too
With a smile in my heart
I allow my greatness to shine through

Shine through
Shine through
I allow my greatness to shine through
As I’m flying through the air
I keep having a bird’s eye view
A higher perspective
Far beyond what I saw before

I’m so glad I went off the cliff
It looked so dangerous
Yet it’s been so freeing
Turns out it wasn’t a risk at all
I always could fly
This was always available
I keep soaring
From up here I see the solutions
Keep on rising

I now tell myself a helpful story
That life can only be what I make it to be
Life is a dream that I’m awake for
Life is a pleasant dream come true

Shine through
Shine through
I allow my greatness to shine through
Shine through
Shine through
I allow my greatness to shine through
I’m so very glad and grateful
That I allow my greatness to shine through
