I’ve had those moments. Moments that are bittersweet and gone now. I wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve had those moments, too. It can be tricky to let go of them and move on with life.
Thankfully, it is possible to let go and move on.
Be grateful for those moments. They helped make you who you are today, for better or for worse. They were an essential part of your growth. You discovered strength within yourself you didn’t know you had. You woke up to a part of yourself you didn’t realize was there.
And yes, an essential element of getting unstuck is to realize and admit that you’re stuck in the first place. The awareness of your current situation helps you create a different situation.
You don’t have to stay stuck in the past, and neither do I. Here’s to getting unstuck, being grateful, and creating new moments to enjoy and be grateful for.
Enjoy these lyrics. This is one of my earlier songs, from before I wrote dozens of other songs.
“Still Stuck” lyrics / poem by James Barnett
I’m still stuck at that moment in time
Back when it seemed that I was fully alive
I’m there with you now that you’re gone
I’m there with you now that you’re gone
What was it we said
What was it we did
That cut to the heart of me
And hasn’t let go
No matter the distance of time
Was what we had such a crime
Our connection was gripping
But now our hands are slipping
Away into the shadows
And out of the light
We’ve broken our bond
How can I go on
How can I ever go on
I’m still stuck at that moment in time
Back when it seemed that I was fully alive
I’m there with you now that you’re gone
I’m there with you now that you’re gone
You haunt me in the night
I awaken with great fright
I look to see if you’re there
Even though I know you’re not
I thought we shared so much
However much, it still came to an end
With nothing left
We’re not even friends
Such blistering heights
Such punishing depths
The highs and lows of life
The harmony and the strife
I’m still stuck at that moment in time
Back when it seemed that I was fully alive
I’m there with you now that you’re gone
I’m there with you now that you’re gone
I’m still stuck at that moment in time
Back when it seemed that I was fully alive
I’m there with you now that you’re gone
I’m there with you now that you’re gone
